Let's Hide

Over the holidays I was able to be with my grandson Mason. He is 2 1/2 years old. He definitely takes after my side of the family - could be good or bad depending on your point of view. During our stay at my parents, Mason wanted to hide in the closet. Apparently that is something that he does at home. So he had taken his grandmother (Kathy) and they both had hid. But now he wanted me to play.

We got in the closet. We were quiet as to not let anyone know where we were. We were hiding, or at least that is what I thought we were doing. When someone walked in the room he would announce that we were hiding. No prompting! No coaching! He just let everyone within ear shot know what we were doing.

At that point I thought that it was cute. You hide but when someone gets close, then you let them know you are hiding from them. Isn't the purpose of hiding to hide? But as I thought about what he was doing, I wondered about myself.

I wonder what God thinks of us. We are suppose to be doing a lot of things and we simply miss the point. We are to serve, love, assist, be kind, sacrifice, give and be humble. But we end up tooting our own horn even in these godly acts and end up missing the point.

We just need to do what God says, the way he says do it and he will be proud.

Sid
