Blue Collar Church, Part 2

You may be a blue collar church if . . .

#1 Y’all gotta be just plain ole folks – no toboggans!
We have to be real and not masked people who pretend. The church must be a people who are honest about who they really are. We are to be light (not darkness) and salt (not a substitute) to this world.

#2 Y’all can’t care who’s their Daddy!
We have to treat all people alike. Jesus did. Look at his track record The woman at the well. Zacchaeus the tax collector. The woman caught in adultery. The woman who wiped her tears from Jesus’ feet with her hair. We have to be people who love all God’s children.

#3 Y’all gotta do church the way the man upstairs wants!
Traditions are important - they give identity. But God wants us to relate to our world.
We have to speak to the culture. We have to go to them in our worship and raise them to praise God’s name. We can’t worship like we did twenty years ago. Our worship must be relevant.
Our worship must be inspiring. Our worship must be authentic. Foremost it must be pleasing to God. It is about him. Any worship that does not exalt God is false.

#4 Y’all gotta wait on them there tables!
Christianity is not a spectator sport. It is about us working in the kingdom. Everyone of us has to find our place in the kingdom and this church. We must all be about the Father’s business.
It is a sin not to be involved. Those are hard words, but we are not to be served, but to serve the world.

#5 Y’all can’t care which holler their from!
The gospel is for all. It’s not for just a few. We sing, "red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight and we are still divided by color, economics, heritage and pedigree. The gospel is for all who will receive it. Our task is to make the world welcome. Our challenge is to love them and help them grow in the knowledge of our Savior. Our efforts should be to help the world see God.

Be Jesus to the world. God will be proud.

Sid
